At 7:00 am, scouts from Boy Scout
Troop 801 began arriving along with members of the
Kiwanis Club of Brea (Charter organization), Key Clubbers, and friends and
family to begin distributing (or throwing) candy throughout the fields at
Arovista Park.
Several
techniques were used from dropping on the ground, throwing for distance,
to throwing at Bobby. However they did it, volunteers distributed
chocolate candy and plastic Easter Eggs all over Arovista Park.
Scouts were also used to help with
"crowd control", keeping our guests off the fields and stepping on the
candy.
After a short count down,
precisely 9:00 am, the Easter Buddy give the sign to start the event and
hundreds of parents with kids in tow charged up the hills and only the
grassy areas and vacuumed up all the candy, eggs, and some of the things
the forest creatures left the night before.
When all the that candy had been collected, kids
lined up to collect their chocolate Easter Bunnies.
Scouts also used this opportunity to provide the
public with an opportunity to purchase Scout-O-Rama coupon books as a
troop fund raiser.
