Class C traveling and in base camp.  Dress in layers due to weather variations.  Days in the 60's with evenings in the upper 30's.

Equipment to Bring

Water containers or bladder to hold 2-3 quarts of water.  It is crucial that you stay hydrated.  Other equipment to include hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, 10 essentials, boots.

Backpacking Checklist

  • All items packed in an outdoor type backpack (if you do not have one, troop has some available). Use of zip lock bags is highly encouraged, to ensure everything remains dry.

  • Put your NAME and T801 on EVERYTHING.

  • The important factors for amount of clothing and equipment are the length of the trip and what type of climate you are hiking.  Packed backpack weight should not exceed 30% of the scout's bodyweight.

  • Pick both comfortable and durable hiking attire. Shorts may be worn but suggest long pants. NO cotton sweat shirts or sweat pants.

  • Your sleeping bag must be placed into a stuff sack on longer trips. No trash bags or bungee cords may be used to hold it together. This will not only make things easier but ensure your sleeping bag makes all the way to camp.

Money to Bring:

Scouts should eat breakfast before arriving on Saturday morning and bring a sack lunch for when we arrive at camp.  Also, bring $5-8 for lunch on the way home.  There will be a $5 charge for gas.
