While we did not face all nine
plagues of Egypt, we did deal with rain, wind, sand, fire, heat,
cold, more wind, more sand and lots of fun. Arriving on
Friday, our first official stop was Badwater Basin, 282 feet below
sea level, where we encountered our first two plagues, wind and
rain. Arriving at camp, the wind picked up as we started
setting up. With a little light left, we drove through Artist
Pallet and saw the many different colors. Back at camp, there
was football to play as well as Capture the Flag. The wind
died down a little for some great cooking and star gazing later in
the evening.

It was never clear why people walked out to the middle of
nothing. Probably our herding instincts. |

Before we got there, it hadn't rained in 3 million years. |
Arriving at camp, it was time to pitch our tents.

I guess they never heard that say, "Don't pitch into
the wind". |

Which end is up? |
The adults could not understand why the scouts were
having a hard time. |
You really have to be careful what you pick up out here. |
After setting up camp, time for football....

...while some adults were looking at dirt. |
Pretty dirt. |

You don't want your meat touching those dirty old grills. |
As the wind eased up, Mr. Hull or Hall brought out his
telescope for star gazing. |
